I thought this was a nice shot because I actually captured the puck in the net.

Capturing emotion through sports photojournalism is something everyone finds most difficult to achieve. Trials after trials and errors makes one learn to appreciate the things that come through our viewfinder, especially when it may have been taken candidly or in the case of Disappointment by *NikonCha, a relentless forlorn feel of loss for ...well, screwing it up. Funny how his form is good but apparently he just isn't quick enough five-hole for that shot. Poor little goalie!
:iconnikoncha:
lol yeah really. It wasn't his night...he let in 4 or 5 goals and his team lost 7-2.

Oh wow, 7-2, that is brutal. Fantastic shot either way with great timing! You have a number of fantastic hockey shots, really. May I ask where you sit to take them? Or do you do this professionally so you're given access to those spots with the holes located in the glass? I'm just wondering because I've always wanted to take photos at hockey games when I happen to have good seats or even lucky enough to have glass seats. I also found white balancing to be really difficult, though I have only used a point-and-shoot so that may be the reason why. I'm too afraid to bring my D40 though I think I will next time I go which happens to be this Saturday. But all this questioning may be for naught because I don't think the lens I have will be quite up to par to take any shots like this, heh.
Anyways, congrats on the DD!

Nice shot!
And congrats on the DD, I'm really pumped to see a hockey photo make the front page!
